About

My historical interests explore the mobilisation of British society during the Eighteenth Century, particularly during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars (1792-1815).

Currently, I'm looking at the volunteer movement - the mass mobilisation of part-time soldiers in Britain into locally formed units, dealing with how they were raised, they concieved of themselves, what they thought they should do, and what they were being asked to do (not always the same!).
