Thesis Title: Investigating the effects of chemotherapy upon the ovary

About

During my PhD I developed a tissue model to investigate the effects of chemotherapy upon fertility. My research involved investigations into whether ovine ovarian cortical strip culture could be used as a model to quantify the cytotoxic impact of chemotherapy agents upon the ovarian follicle reserve in humans. The investigations detailed methods which can be used as endpoint markers to investigate the acute and cumulative effect of drug exposure upon cell lysis, cell metabolism, cellular detoxification and cell viability.

I have a broad interest in many scientific areas, whilst my PhD looked at
the effects of chemotherapy upon fertility in childhood cancer survivors,
during my masters degree at UCL, I was sponsored by the MRC and completed a
nine month research project at the Zoological Society of London, validating
a morphometric system for measuring seashorses.

I am used to working with individuals at all levels and thus have excellent communication skills commensurate with such experience: I have worked as a demonstrator for second year undergraduate students, I have helped demonstrate concepts to lay audiences at conferences, taught medical
students basic laboratory skills and been involved in teaching specialist technical skills to MD students
