About
I am a 3rd-year PhD student at the University of Leeds, looking at how close friendships may promote psychological resilience in UK adolescents and middle-aged adults. I use a mixed-methods approach to this question: a longitudinal survey examines the psychological resources and adaptive behaviours which may be promoted by close friendships, and an interview study focuses on the experiences of close friendship and transformation of self towards resilience.
Visit my project website at www.psyc.leeds.ac.uk/friendship. Our lab has also set up a nifty new website at http://www.ipairleeds.webspace.virginmedia.com.
Prior to this, I worked as an Assistant Psychologist (Research) for the NHS, examining global training of clinical psychologists and how to assess clinical psychology trainees' clinical skills. I have also studied how adolescents use Web 2.0 technologies to support learning and socialising. I did my MSc in Psychology at Nottingham Trent and a BA in Psychology and Political Science in McGill University. I'm originally from New York, but have (unfortunately? fortunately?) almost entirely lost that accent!
